Section 4
Planning of Learning and Development
"the organisation plans the development of its people in support of the achievement of its business objectives"
One of the main factors underpinning successful organisations is the alignment of employee skills at all levels to company goals and objectives. The inclusion of this strategy in the learning and development planning stage will ensure that the foundations are laid for the development of a highly skilled and appropriate workforce.
Using the Excellence Through People process will help and support an organisation to:
- Ensure that learning and development planning is linked to business needs;
- Identify learning needs in a systematic manner and use an inclusive process for all employees;
- Understand the requirements of a training plan;
- Identify and compile effective learning objectives;
- Prioritise and determine learning sequence.
Excellence Through People organisations are committed to:
- Displaying a committment to learning and development and adopting a systematic approach to employee learning and development;
- Engaging with the employees learning and development needs;
- Understanding the value of promoting career and personal development opportunities for employees, and the role of succession planning in these efforts.
