What Our Clients Say
AOL Broadband
“We found the preparation for and the assessment for the Gold standard to be beneficial both for the business and our employees. It focused the company on the importance of effective communication processes and gave a framework for planning future business and strategies. We feel that this is a very worthwhile HRM standard to implement across all industry sectors”.
Claire Harpur – Learning & Development Specialist
Bristol–Myers Squibb
“The ETP process allowed Bristol–Myers Squibb to benchmark its procedures against the Irish Best Practice in people management. ETP acts as a structured tool for HR & Management when devising improvements. The fact that there are three levels in the award allows us to challenge ourselves to reach the higher levels. We involved everyone in the business during the Standard level assessment through a cross–functional team and this helped us involve people all across the business”.

Cuil Didin Residential & Nursing Care
“Thanks to the ETP process Cuil Didin now has a platform to expand and promote a standard of excellence for its residents and relatives which allows us to ‘encompass a person centred ethos where values, beliefs, feelings and inherency are recognised and promoted by a team of professionals who are all singing of the same hymn sheet’.
We have heavily invested in training and development of all staff on a personal and professional level which now prioritises the ‘right person for the job’. ETP was the driving force behind this and has helped me to set a baseline standard that is regularly reviewed and is now an essential component of our Quality Assurance programme. The ETP programme is very adaptable to any work environment and I compliment whoever was responsible for its layout, content and design”.

Dulux Paints Ireland
“DPI was amongst the first organisations to receive the original Excellence Through People standard in 1997. 10 years on, in March 2007, Dulux Paints Ireland was awarded Platinum in the new revised standard. Despite have the ETP standard for 13 years, initially we felt that going for Platinum would be overwhelming. However, when we seriously looked at sections such as Business Planning and what would be required of DPI to meet the new ETP criteria, using it as a business tool to drive continuous improvement which has become a way of life at DPI. The other major advantage of ETP for DPI is benchmarking which is of benefit externally, i.e. to our customers and also demonstrating the quality of our people and our organisation and is always part of our overall Sales and Marketing Presentations. ETP is not just the responsibility of the Training /HR function within an organisation, it involves participation from all employees and gives them a sense of ownership of the ETP standard, and it also raises awareness for them of the contribution they make towards achievement of the business goals. Dulux Paints Ireland have passionate, engaged and highly skilled and developed employees and we regard the Excellence Through People standard as an excellent business tool and is a major pillar in developing our people and drives continuous improvement throughout every level of the organisation”

InjuriesBoard.ie”
“InjuriesBoard.ie thoroughly benefited from the Excellence Through People (ETP) process which led to the Board receiving Standard ETP Accreditation in 2009. Applying for accreditation was cohesive and morale enhancing as we formed a number of Focus Groups from all Directorates to review the Board’s existing processes, procedures and policies. The application brought together all the benefits and good procedures practiced in the Board in a central and easy to review document. Colleagues appreciated that ETP accreditation is a shared acknowledgement of their role and their impact on the duties of and the environment that exists in InjuriesBoard.ie. In that respect achieving ETP accreditation recognises each individual in the Board and their contribution to making InjuriesBoard.ie an employer of choice”.

Mercier Press
Mercier Press achieved the Excellence Through People standard in 2009. In a year that was very challenging economically, it was a great boost to morale to achieve this standard. Our staff are aware of and appreciative of our commitment to them and their future development and potential input to our business, and that knowledge is invaluable to us especially in these extremely challenging times. The commitment we have demonstrated to our team in achieving this standard has been returned in their commitment to us in being more productive, cooperative and hard working than ever. The standard has been used in all of our HR advertising and we now include the question, ‘ What do you know about Excellence Through People?’ for all interviews. This inevitably leads to a discussion about the importance of the HR standard and our commitment to our team, which I believe will give us the edge in attracting highly specialised candidates. We are very proud to have achieved this standard. It has made a very tangible contribution to our business and we encourage our colleagues in the SME sector to work with ETP in achieving it.

“Overall we are finding that Excellence Through People is an excellent model that creates robust structures within SMEs. The ETP ‘process’ is value creating in itself and whilst the standard and achievement of certification is the central driving force, we are finding that the journey itself is providing the value. We have a team of 8 ETP advisors that have been working on the programme and we are finding the experience valuable and insightful”.
J.J. O Connell – Director
Pramerica Systems Ireland
"Pramerica Systems Ireland recognizes that our strength is the talent of our people. Therefore we place the highest priority on attracting, engaging and retaining a high performing workforce to support the company's objectives and business priorities. Excellence Through People (ETP) is Ireland's only national standard for human resource management and is the only quality standard dedicated to the role of people and their impact on business. One of Pramerica’s 2010 strategic objectives is to participate in ETP and to achieve Platinum Level as we did in 2008. ETP has served as a business improvement tool and a driver for change and innovation for Pramerica, encouraging us to continue to promote employee learning, development and involvement in line with the organisation's goals. We look forward to participating again this year."

Prompto Despatch
“I took over looking after ETP, here in Prompto, and after getting to understand it really saw its relevance, especially in today’s challenging times for all sectors of business. We’ve found that it really focuses us all on what is crucial/critical to survive and in time grow again, albeit slowly, which may not be such a bad thing. ETP breaks down our business into its different sections and reminded us how important constant ongoing training and up-skilling is for both the individual (in their feeling of achievement and belonging within the organsiation) and for the Company, in having staff who know their roll and are trained in that function. The element of Business Planning and Critical Success Factors are so important, it is really so obvious, but the ongoing reviewing and changing is crucial as business is changing by the day and it really does pay to keep your eye on what is important”.

Reagecon
“Excellence Through People enables an organisation to be very specific about their training requirements and ensures that the spend on training is totally supportive of the vision of the company and thereby enables the company to reduce wasted effort on training which is very common. By demonstrating the alignment of the organisation, [vickyb] it also allows the company to be very specific about roles, deliverables, timelines and other metrics; and to show how all of these feed into the bigger picture. This contributes greatly to return on investment for staff in it’s own right, but is also a powerful motivator. I believe that Excellence Through People works; is very well managed and audited and is a powerful contributor to leadership and management practice in Ireland. I would say that if it suffers from any weakness it is purely due to the fact that it is probably not sold sufficiently by your organisation as a leadership tool but is presented more as an employee enhancement process which is only one component part of leadership”.
John Barron – Managing Director
Waterford Area Partnership
“With regard to the benefits to the organisation for having received the Excellence Through People award, I wish to state that it has been very positive for our Company. It has greatly improved the way that Management and Staff interact. Our planning and internal processes are more effective and more open and transparent to the benefit of all. The Excellence Through People Award was referred to in two recent achievements for the company i.e.” acceptance by Sustainable Energy Ireland of our Business Plan to run a Warmer Homes insulation programme in Waterford and the approval of Waterford Area Partnership as an accredited FETAC Centre”.
